LEFTOVER SALMON

For the past quarter-century, Colorado’s Leftover Salmon has established itself as one of the great purveyors of Americana
music, digging deep into the well that supplies its influences; rock ‘n’ roll, folk, bluegrass, Cajun, soul, zydeco, jazz and blues. They are firmly settled in the long lineage of bands that defy simple categorization, instead setting their own musical agenda. They are the direct descendants of bands like Little Feat, New
Grass Revival, Grateful Dead and The Band, born of the heart and soul of America itself, playing music that reflects the sounds emanating from the Appalachian hills, the streets of New Orleans, the clubs of Chicago, the plains of Texas, and the mountains of Colorado. Over time, Leftover Salmon’s sound has grown and evolved while staying true to the roots and guiding spirit of the band’s founding members - mandolinist/singer Drew Emmitt and guitarist/singer Vince Herman. Today, Leftover Salmon endures as a vital and significant presence and holds an unequivocal stature as a truly legendary band.

THE MOTET

Using the rich musical landscapes of Boulder and Denver Colorado as their muse, The Motet has mastered the delicate task of constantly reinventing their sound while staying true to their various roots. Founded in 1998 by Dave Watts, The Motet has become one of the best improvisational bands touring today. Their ability to seamlessly fuse elements of afro-beat, electronica, funk, and jazz has led to a sound that defies categorization. A world-class ensemble that whips audiences into a whirling frenzy using sheer impromptu force. With their spontaneous and textured rhythms and hard-driving beats, the band creates a repertoire between themselves and the audiences that is rarely seen in today’s manufactured rock. The Motet consecrates the ground on which dance music meets free-form improvisation, allowing a diverse audience to become immersed in their eclectic sound. “Our tendency to avoid being pigeon-holed is a reflection of who we are as musicians,” said Watts. “We try to be open-minded about how we approach different genres and traditions.”

You can’t miss Andy Frasco. The electric-shock hair. The megawatt charisma. The golden lungs, magic fingers and party-starting songs. When this twenty-something Californian bandleader takes to the stage with The U.N., you’ll get an adrenalin-shot of pure escapism. “We want people to be happy,” explains Andy of his musical mission statement. “To smile at their faults, love life for what it is, and follow the beat of your own drum.” Happy Bastards is aptly titled. Released on Ruf Records in 2016, this fourth full-length album shakes your feet and skewers your woes. Recorded at Lavish Studios and Brando’s Paradise, California, these twelve new songs are an industrial-strength blast of glass-half-full optimism, with the band’s self-styled brand of party blues jostling with funk, soul, rock and roots.

FORGOTTEN SPACE
Featuring Special Guests: Richie "Shakin" Nagan (of George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic) and Sikiru Adepoju (of Mickey Hart's Planet Drum)

Forgotten Space is a North Texas-based band comprised of six diverse musicians with a deep understanding and respect for the rich and varied Grateful Dead songbook. With a repertoire of more than 100 Dead-related works from 1965-1995, the musicians have meticulously bridged the gap between creating the sound and feel of the Grateful Dead experience and finding the balanced space to express their own personal identities as musicians. Staying true to form, the instrumentation of two guitars, bass, keyboards, two drummers, and strong three- and four-part vocal harmonies creates an uncannily accurate representation of the real enchilada.

STEVE MILLER BAND
STEVE MILLER BAND

Steve Miller was a mainstay of the San Francisco music scene that upended American culture in the late '60s. With albums like Children of the Future, Sailor and Brave New World, Miller perfected a psychedelic blues sound that drew on the deepest sources of American roots music and simultaneously articulated a compelling vision of what music - and society - could be in the years to come. Then, in the 70s, Miller crafted a brand of rock n' roll music that was polished, exciting and irresistible, and that has dominated radio through today. Hit followed hit in an endless flow: "The Joker", "Livin' in the USA," "Take the Money and Run," "Rock n' Me," "Fly Like an Eagle," "Jet Airliner," Jungle Love." and "Abracadabra" among them. To this day, these songs are instantly recognizable when they come on the radio - and impossible not to sing along with. Running through Miller's catalogue its a combination of virtuosity and songcraft along with melodic vocals and signature guitar riffs. His parents were jazz aficionados - Les Paul was his godfather - so as a budding guitarist and singer, Miller absorbed valuable lessons from their musical tradition. When the family moved to Texas, Miller deepened his education in the blues, meeting T-Bone Walker and learning to sing and play listening to him and Jimmy Reed. Miller then moved to Chicago where he played with Mudy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Lightin' Hopkins, Buddy Guy and Paul Butterfield." - Anthony DeCurtis

STEVE KIMOCK BAND

A master of improvisation for nearly four decades, Steve Kimock has been inspiring music fans with his transcendent guitar speak, voiced through electric, acoustic, lap and pedal steel guitars. While one can say that his genre is rock, no one niche has ever confined him. Instead, through the years, he’s explored various sounds and styles based on what’s moved him at the time, whether it’s blues or jazz; funk or folk; psychedelic or boogie; gypsy or prog-rock; traditional American or world fusion. Threaded through this expansive and highly nuanced musical landscape is Kimock’s signature sound, the prodigious product of his ability to articulate crystal-clear tone, melody and emotion into intricately woven music crafted with technical brilliance. His passion and devotion to performing live is matchless, and his unparalleled ability to embrace and capture his audiences musically is the stuff of legends.
